Tax Reform

There are several tax reform measures that are in contention in the United States. As it presently exists the United States Tax Code is considered to be quite large and cumbersome. It is difficult to pin down exactly how large it is, but some of the best guesses from United States Congressmen range from between one million words and over five million words. According to the United States Government Printing Office the tax code is just over sixteen thousand pages long.

One reform that many people in the United States advocate is the use of a flat tax. A flat tax differs from a progressive tax rate in that income would be taxed at one rate instead of the varying rate as it presently is today. In short, one or two rates would be applied to income instead of the adjusted scale as seen today. Proponents of the flat tax belief that it is a more moral and fair taxation policy, believing that a progressive tax scale unfairly discriminates and hinder wealth building and hard working. This type of taxation would greatly simplify the tax code and lessen frustration many taxpayers feel when filing their taxes. Therefore, bei USA Reisen muss man auf die Steuern achten beim Einkauf, because of tax reform in the United States.

Another reform that has been put forward would be to institute a national sales tax or fair tax. This reform would replace the progressive scale of taxation that is used now with a national retail sale tax. Proponents of this reform believe that this style of taxation would lead to a more equitable system of taxing individuals, believing that it is immoral and a disservice to tax income, a necessity for a growing and healthy personal and federal economy. A fair tax would mean that those people who buy more would naturally pay more in tax. Secondly, this style of taxation would also affect those individuals who do not claim any income and are able to circumvent the present day income tax.

In either case the reform agenda is aimed at simplifying the present day federal income tax system.
